The Arran DMG occupies the majority of the Isle of Arran which lies in the Firth of Clyde and is one of the most southerly upland deer management group in Scotland. The Group is split into two distinct areas, with the core Group occupying the open hill range in the north of the island and the South Arran Deer Control Group encompasses mainly farmland and forestry in the southern part of the island.

There are number of villages around the periphery of the island however Lochranza is the only one where there is a resident population of deer all year round.
